Terms of Service

Updated: 28 August 2026 · Awaiting legal review, and may change as a result

These terms cover your use of Village — in the app and on this site. By using the service you accept them.

What Village is

Village is a community of people passing baby gear on: those who no longer need it, and those looking for it. Village's part is to let them get in touch, and that is where it ends.

The service is free. Nothing is sold, nothing is paid for, and Village takes no commission and earns nothing from a give-away.

Who can use it

  • The service is for people aged 18 and over only.
  • One account per person, verified by phone number.
  • The details you give must be accurate — including your home location, which is what the distances other users see are measured from.
  • You may add a child's details only if you are their parent or guardian.

What you may give away

  • Only items that are yours and that you are entitled to pass on.
  • Only for free — never ask for payment or for anything in return.
  • Only items that are legal, clean and safe to use.

Never pass on a recalled item, a car seat that has been in a collision, or safety equipment that is damaged or out of date, or whose history you do not know.

Village is not a party to the give-away

A give-away happens between two users and no one else. Village does not sell, does not buy and does not act as a broker, and it is not a party to anything they agree between them.

Village never holds the items, never sees them and never inspects them. It verifies nothing about them — not their condition, not their safety, not whether they are suitable for a particular age or use, and not the identity of whoever listed them. Photos and descriptions come from users.

Checking the item is your responsibility, and it is passed on as is.

Safety

Second-hand baby gear deserves care. Before using an item:

  • Car seats — check the expiry date, and never use a seat that has been in a collision, however sound it looks.
  • Cots, cradles and playpens — confirm they meet current safety standards, have not been recalled, and have all their parts.
  • Any item — check it is complete, stable and clean, with no small parts that could come loose.

For the give-away itself, we recommend meeting in a public place, in daylight.

Liability

Village is not responsible for the items — their condition, their safety, their suitability or their legality — or for how users behave, in the app or when they meet in person. A give-away that never happened, an item that turned out not to match its description, or a dispute between two users is a matter between the users involved.

The service is provided as is. We do not promise that it will always be available, that it will work without faults, or that you will find any particular item on it.

None of this removes liability that cannot be excluded by law, including liability for personal injury and for wilful misconduct.

What is not allowed

  • Harassing, threatening or harming other users.
  • Using the service commercially — selling, advertising, finding customers, or collecting items in order to sell them.
  • Impersonating someone else or giving false details.
  • Automatically harvesting information about users, or trying to extract exact locations from the service.
  • Filing false reports.

Content you upload

The photos and text you upload stay yours. You give Village a licence to display them, for running the service and nothing else — not for advertising, and not for any other purpose.

Upload only photos you took yourself or have the right to use, and only photos of the item itself. Never upload photos of children, and upload photos of other people only with their consent.

Reports, blocking and closing an account

From inside the app you can block a user, and report a user or an item. We review reports. Where these terms are breached or other users are put at risk, we may remove an item, and we may suspend or close an account.

You can delete your account at any time from inside the app — see Delete your account.

Changes to the service and these terms

We may change the service, add or remove features, or stop offering it altogether. If these terms change, the updated text will be published on this page, and the date at the top will change with it.

Governing law

Israeli law applies to these terms, and any dispute over them will be heard by the competent courts in Israel.

If any clause in these terms is found unenforceable, the rest remain in force.
